Hastings Life

The perks of living by the sea.
Living by the sea, I am often reminded of Earth's natural cycles.
For one day of each year, thousands of whitebait are washed up onto the shoreline of Hastings, driven into shore by their predators - mackeral.
We often walk along the shoreline in the evening, and last night came across this sight, thousands of freshly washed-up whitebait and half a dozen local people filling their buckets with them.
Not wanting to miss an opportunity we filled a bucket of our own.

I know what we're having for our tea tonight - Breaded Whitebait with Lemon
